About the conference
The conference is organised by St Onufry's Monastery in Jabłeczna. The title of the conference is “Great returns. On artworks, library collections, archives and sanctities of the Polish Orthodox Church lost and deported during World Wars I and II”. The conference will deal with monuments that we know only from accounts, as well as those that are still to this day found in collections beyond Poland's borders, the relocation of which was intentional or resulted from the post-war change of borders. The conference will take place on 15-17 October. After the conference a volume collecting the articles and a catalogue of the lost works will be published. We hope, God willing, that the conference will gather a group of very interesting researchers from Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Lithuania - Slavists, art historians, historians, theologians. I hope that our meeting will become something valuable, as a place for dialogue, exchange of knowledge and reflection on the unique tradition of the Eastern Church of the former Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
